Mary’s Market Now Open Thanks to Generous Donations

Oct 2, 2017

food pantry 2One of Chartiers Center’s dear colleagues, Mary Sidor, passed away unexpectedly. Since Mary touched many of our lives during her fifteen years at Chartiers Center we wish to create a lasting memory that will honor her and her work with consumers in need.
In honor of Mary, Chartiers Center will open a Food Pantry for our clients who are hungry and lack the resources for themselves and family.  According to Sue Coyle, Chartiers’ CEO, “The pantry is something we have wanted to do for a long time, but realize that now the time could not be better as we think Mary would like this.”  Katy Ringstad, H2O Team Leader, has suggested the name, “Mary’s Market” and it’s a perfect tribute to Mary and her devotion to those she served.
A memorial service was held for Mary at Chartiers Center and everyone in attendance brought a donation of non-perishable food for the Pantry.  Donations will continue to be accepted and distributed to Chartiers’ consumers and families. The Outpatient therapists, BSC’s, the Housing Program staff (Hestia, Atlas, Vesta, and H2O) etc. will use these resources for their consumers.mary's market photo
Mary drew little attention to her, but rather focused her efforts on serving others. We all think Mary would be delighted to know that “Mary’s Market” will continue to support the basic needs of her consumers by putting food on their tables.

What Is Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation?

Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services are founded on the firm belief that people can and do recover from mental illness, including the most severe and persistent diagnoses. Psych Rehab providers define recovery not by a lack of symptoms, but by the presence of meaning and purpose in one’s life. Participants in Chartiers Center’s Mobile Psych Rehab (MPR) program choose the recovery goals they want to work on and then meet regularly with their MPR staff to learn, enhance, and practice the skills they need to reach those goals.

Healing Invisible Wounds

For many Veterans, the battle doesn’t end when they return home. The experiences of deployment, combat exposure, loss, and the transition back to civilian life can take a profound toll on mental well-being. While every Veteran’s story is unique, the mental-health challenges they face often share common threads: post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, substance use, and a lingering sense of isolation. The good news is that effective, compassionate treatment options exist—and awareness and accessibility have grown dramatically over the past decade.
