T&SR Newsletter Honors Mental Health Awareness Month

May 19, 2021

May 2021 CaptureIn case you didn’t know, May is Mental Health Awareness Month!  We at T&SR have been busy finding ways to honor the month and our participants.  We have had multiple groups focused on mental health, including learning about Tardive Dyskinesia, the ability to be happy while having a mental health diagnosis and ways to assist our mental health using movement and exercise.  We will also be showing off our participant’s talents in an art show at our Bridgeville office, which is inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, who is believed to have had a mental health diagnosis.  The word of the month is RESILIENCE, as our participants are the most resilient individuals around.
Click here to read a special Mental Health Awareness Month newsletter.  It showcases some of our participant’s recovery stories.  Please enjoy reading it.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t include every participant’s story, but it does represent the resiliency of all of our folks, as each and every one of them are more than survivor’s—they have bounced back from challenges that most people can only imagine.
Thank you for reading it and be well,
Amy Randal

What Is Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation?

What Is Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation?

Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services are founded on the firm belief that people can and do recover from mental illness, including the most severe and persistent diagnoses. Psych Rehab providers define recovery not by a lack of symptoms, but by the presence of meaning and purpose in one’s life. Participants in Chartiers Center’s Mobile Psych Rehab (MPR) program choose the recovery goals they want to work on and then meet regularly with their MPR staff to learn, enhance, and practice the skills they need to reach those goals.

Healing Invisible Wounds

For many Veterans, the battle doesn’t end when they return home. The experiences of deployment, combat exposure, loss, and the transition back to civilian life can take a profound toll on mental well-being. While every Veteran’s story is unique, the mental-health challenges they face often share common threads: post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, substance use, and a lingering sense of isolation. The good news is that effective, compassionate treatment options exist—and awareness and accessibility have grown dramatically over the past decade.
