Holiday Happenings

Dec 21, 2018

It has been a very busy December here at Chartiers Center with many wonderful blessings coming our way.
group pic with floor displaySanta’s Elves were busy packing bags for Chartiers Center’s homeless consumers. Special thanks to Lindsay Bahl and friends who decided to forego gift giving and instead turn their efforts to bagging warm weather essentials for homeless consumers living on the streets and between shelters. The bags of hats, gloves, socks, hand and foot warmers, snacks and water will be distributed by Chartiers Center’s staff.

More gSEAS angels for LTSRood news to share! Parishioners from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish generously supported the residents of Chartiers Center’s LTSR by adding their names to the angel tree. Today when I went to pick up the presents I was greeted by beautifully wrapped gifts and smiling elves. Also the volunteers from Victorian Finance visited the residents to spread some holiday cheer. Chartiers Center is grateful for the warm support we receive from the local business and church community!
As everyone is busy preparing for the holiday season Chartiers Center’s staff took time to do a little shopping for the Holiday Giving Project. This year we received requests from staff with gift ideas for consumers in thtable w presentseir programs. We had 22 “Angels” step up and buy presents for 40+ people to make their holidays a little brighter!
Chartiers Center’s staff are not the only people supporting the Holiday Giving Project. Other friends from the community have supported our efforts this past week. Two friends from the Pittsburgh Indian Community donated coats, hats, gloves and scarfs for the
homeless population that we serve and those who risk homelessness. In addition a very generous donation was made of 500 pairs of socks in memory of John Johnson. The socks will be distributed by Chartiers Center’s Wellness Nurse as she works with the street sockshomeless. We are thankful for all the support we have received from our staff and the community this holiday season.
Together we are transforming lives.

What Is Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation?

What Is Mobile Psychiatric Rehabilitation?

Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services are founded on the firm belief that people can and do recover from mental illness, including the most severe and persistent diagnoses. Psych Rehab providers define recovery not by a lack of symptoms, but by the presence of meaning and purpose in one’s life. Participants in Chartiers Center’s Mobile Psych Rehab (MPR) program choose the recovery goals they want to work on and then meet regularly with their MPR staff to learn, enhance, and practice the skills they need to reach those goals.

Healing Invisible Wounds

For many Veterans, the battle doesn’t end when they return home. The experiences of deployment, combat exposure, loss, and the transition back to civilian life can take a profound toll on mental well-being. While every Veteran’s story is unique, the mental-health challenges they face often share common threads: post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, substance use, and a lingering sense of isolation. The good news is that effective, compassionate treatment options exist—and awareness and accessibility have grown dramatically over the past decade.
